Harmony staff, teachers, and administrators have spent countless of hours preparing our students for college and each year approximately 85% of our graduating class enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

But, despite these impressive enrollment numbers, far too many of our low income and first-time college students drop out as they hit financial and circumstantial barriers such as the cost of attending college, that has increased by 36% in the last 10 years. Harmony Public Schools has 5,033 graduates to date and is projected to have 11,686 graduates by 2020, current funding sources are unable to meet even the current demands of these programs. Clearly, additional financial support is required.

We are asking our Harmony community to consider going beyond educational efforts, providing even greater assistance to our graduates through generous Harmony Giving Day contributions to the Harmony College Fund. All your donations will go towards helping our Harmony graduates to complete their higher education dreams and achieve their career aspirations by providing additional scholarships and direct college and career support services.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS HARMONY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STATE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING

Harmony Public Schools | Notice of Public Hearing

As part of the December 13, 2017 Board of Directors Regular Meeting, Harmony Public Schools will hold a public hearing to discuss the HPS Schools’ 2016-2017 Financial Rating Systems of Texas (FIRST) accountability ratings.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, located at 9321 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, TX 77099.

The National Junior Honor Society is be organizing a campus wide food drive! The food drive will last until December 1st. All donations will benefit the Houston Food Bank. The following is a list of wel-comed healthy donations:
1. Canned fruits & Vegetables
2. Canned or pouch tuna, salmon, & Chicken
3. Whole grain pasta, brown rice, & quinoa

November 13 is GT Awareness Day and we are celebrating it with Harmony School of Innovation GT students. We as their educators are always proud of our students. TAGT’s G/T Awareness Day was created to increase awareness and encourage support of gifted education in Texas. Let’s celebrate together!

Join us for our PTO Parent Mixer on Thursday, November 9th in the school cafeteria starting at 4:00 p.m. Free dinner and snacks will be available for participants. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents, share and discuss ideas.

Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey on the families of Houston, the Texas Department of Agriculture is allowing school districts located in counties declared a disaster area to serve ALL students (regardless of eligibility) a free breakfast and lunch until September 30th, 2017. Our school will be participating in this initiative, so we are pleased to provide your children a free breakfast and lunch thus allowing parents to focus on their recovery process.

If you have been displaced as a result of the hurricane or resulting flooding, please contact the school Lunch Clerk. Your child may qualify for free meals for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year if he or she meets the state requirements. Should you have questions or need additional information; please contact your child’s school.

 

Gifted and Talented Graphic

In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking nominations for kindergarten and newly-enrolled students in grades 1-12 for gifted and talented screening. Effective September 1, 2017, anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment.

Nomination forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site. The forms must be returned to the front office by Friday, September 29, 2017. Assessment will begin on Monday, October 2, 2017. For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school’s GT Coach/teacher.

PS: Due to Hurricane Harvey, all Houston campuses will be accepting nominations until October 11th.
